Starting from September 2020, international students with a Student Route Visa enrolling at a UK University can stay post-graduation for up to two years for work.
This extension is applicable to graduates from all higher education providers recognized as “licensed visa sponsors.”
Certain UK universities offer placement or internship opportunities after master’s coursework, allowing students to gain practical knowledge in their studied area.
For courses with internships, students can extend their stay in the UK for up to four years, with the first year dedicated to coursework and the subsequent two years covered by the Graduate Route Visa.
Students desiring a longer stay in the UK can apply for a general work visa (Tier 2) Skill Route. To qualify, the job must meet Tier 2 visa requirements, including a minimum annual salary of £25,600.
